About Us

Who We Are

Welcome to Equitable Farming Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting West African cocoa farmers through fundraising, advocacy, and policy action. Our mission is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by these farmers, including poverty, child labor, and fair market trade. We believe in providing resources and financial support to empower farmers and help them grow their businesses and communities.

Our Approach

At Equitable Farming, we are committed to finding innovative solutions to promote fairness and transparency in the cocoa industry. Here are some of the approaches we are exploring:

Blockchain

We are exploring the use of blockchain technology to bring transparency to the cocoa supply chain. By allowing cacao farmers to showcase how much each entity has paid along the entire chain, we aim to promote fair practices and provide tangible amounts and numbers for comparison.

Empowering Farmers

We believe in empowering farmers to take control of their own destinies. One way we support this is by encouraging farmers to create their own chocolate bars, starting from producing their own cacao pods. This not only eliminates middlemen but also allows farmers to dictate their pricing and have agency over the entire process, from bean to bar. An inspiring example of this is Selassie from Ghana, who created her own artisan chocolate company, Midunu.

Our Current Initiatives

We are actively engaged in various initiatives to make a positive impact in the cocoa industry. Here’s what we are currently working on:

  • Conducting a historical paper on the injustices of the cacao industry and child labor exploitation.
  • Fundraising for West African farmers by selling bars donated by Dandelion chocolate to the Branson community.
  • Operating as a non-profit organization to raise awareness, fundraise, and advocate for policy action on behalf of West African farmers.
  • Exploring the possibility of an origin trip and/or documentary in the Ivory Coast to capture the stories and daily lives of farmers, raising awareness in the United States.
